Agro-Tourism Association is an agricultural development company that offers a wide range of services, such as value chain analysis and development, agricultural marketing, agronomic principles and practices, agribusiness research, agribusiness development services such as financial inclusion, business plan development, value addition and processing, farmer institutional development (FID), and higher level farmer organization (HLFO). All its services are designed to enhance farmers' capacity to engage in farming as a profitable business.

Started in 2010, the company has distinguished itself by providing practical agribusiness entrepreneurship opportunities and has been able to build the capacity of over 90,000 farmers both in and outside Uganda, especially youth and women.

                                       

The company headquarters comprise of 50 acres in Mukono district, which host practical agribusiness training services. The training centre hosts crop demonstrations, livestock and pasture demonstrations. The facilities contain a 200 person capacity conference facility, gardens, a farm canteen with DSTV and wifi, and accommodations (cottages and hostels). These features provide conducive training environments for trainees and tourists alike.

Agro-Tourism Association has established relationships with various entities in the fields of research, trainings, and academia (Makerere Univeristy and Busitema University). It is an active member of various local and international networks such as AgriProfocus, Africa Agribusiness Incubator Network (AAIN), Global Action for Family Farming, Pan African Agribusiness & Agro-Industry Consortium (PanAAC), AgriProfocus, and Youth in Agribusiness Africa (YAN).

 

The association has been involved in the development of various prominent documents such as Youth in Agricultural Employment Strategy under the Ministry Of Agriculture, Animal Industry And Fisheries supported by FAO, Uganda's Forest Investment Program under the Ministry of Water and Environment, ZARDI Research and Development Programmes, Agriculture Sector Strategic Plan 2015/16-2019/20 for the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the Government of Uganda, and the National Agricultural Policy 2013 under the Ministry Of Agriculture.
